How much a granite countertop costs and what drives the price

The price of a granite countertop depends on the stone variety, the thickness, how many slabs your layout needs, the edge type, the number of cut-outs, and fitting and travel. We give a rough quote after a chat and photos, and an exact one after measuring.
Stone variety
Granite prices can differ several times over. Popular, uniform varieties are cheaper. Rare ones with a bold pattern, from distant quarries, cost more.
Amount of stone, not just metres
You pay for the slabs the countertop is cut from. A long L-shaped countertop or an island with a matched pattern may need an extra slab, even if there are only a few metres. That is why we give the exact price after measuring and laying the pieces out on the slab.
Thickness and edge
A 3 cm slab costs more than a 2 cm one. A thickened edge, a 45-degree mitre or a shaped profile all mean extra work.
Cut-outs and finishing
Every cut-out, for the sink, the hob, the tap or a socket, takes machining time. An undermount sink needs the edges of the opening polished. A hob set flush with the countertop needs a recess milled.
Fitting and travel
Transport, carrying in and fitting are added to the price. It also depends on how many people are needed to carry the pieces in and whether they fit up the staircase.
How to get a quick quote
Send us:
- a kitchen plan or a sketch with dimensions,
- photos of the cabinets,
- the stone you chose or a colour you like,
- details of the sink and the hob.
We will give you a rough quote, and an exact one after measuring. We agree on everything before we start cutting.

Can I get a price per metre?
